Shopping for a prom or grad dress could be a very taxing experience for many. This includes both the teenager and the parent. According to a survey, parents seem more concerned about a prom dress than their children. One prom dress tip that most people will give is to look through magazines and shopping catalogues to get an idea of the type of dress or gown for graduation you want. Other tips that are predominant for graduation are:

• Do not buy anything extravagant if you can get the same grad gown from your own closet. In short they ask you to first check your closet or a neighbor’s or relative’s closet before going out to a store to buy graduation gowns or dresses. If you can get something you need from your closet, a friend’s or a relative's then you could save a lot of money.
• While out shopping for a prom dress or gown it is best to check out a few stores and even better to try out some dresses to see if they fit your style and budget. Most people advise you to go out shopping for a graduation dress well in advance and not to go out shopping for dresses a day before the prom.
• When you need to buy an accessory like handbag to match your dress, the best thing that you can do would be to take the dress or gown along with you to buy the accessory, as it would be easier to match.

Following these tips will make it easy for you to choose a grad dress or gown out of the multitude of dresses and gowns that are available. The most important tip is not to wait until the last minute to look at gowns. Grad is an important event, and should be remembered as a happy time.
